Aggravated assault can include, among other things, Assault With a Deadly Weapon and Assault With Intent to Rape, Maim or Murder. Whereas a fist fight would be considered a simple assault, assaults involving deadly force are considered far more serious and carry much more severe prison sentences.
Violent crimes are taken very seriously and typically involve prison terms and high bail amounts -- or even no bail amounts. The stakes are higher in violent crimes than in almost any other type of criminal charges.
